I don't use a credit card on eBay - I don't even own one.

and I ALWAYS pay by PayPal (unless I don't read the listing correctly and the seller only offers PayMate)

It's the only way to ensure Buyer Protection against sellers who do dodgy things like send broken or misrepresented products.

With that in mind, and judging from other posts up there ^^^, this-way-up seems to be suggesting that if a buyer pays by credit card, they have the chance to rob you, and therefore will almost certainly do so by initiating a fraudulent chargeback, plus not only can you not prevent the chargeback, there's nothing you can do to fight and win / keep the money.

I agree, this is most concerning...

and Digi, how does one go about a chargeback?

Do they just rock up to their bank and say "this seller is dodgy" I want a refund? or is it a little more detailed than that, say is proof required or do they just take the buyer's word for it?

I posit the reason for the concern is entirely different.
