Hi all,
We currently run a very basic store in which postage varies by item and postcode. At this stage, a customer buys an item and we send back an invoice with the postage charge based on what they ordered and where it will be delivered.
We want to stay away from the flat shipping rates or including postage in the overall cost. This often blows out and reduces profitability. However, sending invoices to customers is quite manual.
Has anyone come across a shipping calculator that follows the customer through the checkout process and completes everything in one hit? We can have a shipping calculator on our product pages but there is still a need to update and send back an invoice.
Thanks

eBay has a postage calculator built in. All you need to do is specify weight and dimensions, select calculated postage, then select the service you wish to use.

Sorry, I havent explained our situation very well.
We use our own freight provider, not Australia Post or anyone of that nature. Most of our items are big and bulky and will not be able to be sent through AusPost.
By using our own provider we have personalised shipping rates, not equivalent to Aus Post. Is there a way I can upload these onto eBay?
Thanks

Have you found a solution to this?
I am in the same situation and have not been able to find any info on it at all.
Thanks,
Matt

The closest eBay has to a function like that is the rate tables, which while ultimately is flat rate, allows you to specify different postage costs to up to 15 locations in Australia, and you can specify costs by a couple of different factors (eg by item, by weight and by location).
More info here: http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/pay/shipping-costs.html#tables

Is there any 'non-ebay' related options that are available?
Ie- is there custom integration software available that allows this?

No, sorry. Some freight companies have calculators that you can put in listings so that buyers can get a quote up front, but there's nothing that will integrate those calculators with eBay's P&H section or checkout.
