Just checked my ebay invoice and have never noticed this before.

Why do I get charged a final value fee on shipping?

Is this to encourage people to use the ebay satchels, do they attract a fee as well?

A final value fee is now charged on all postage, effective from 6th May.

Thanks for that, just another ebay fee to pay I guess.

Just another way for eBay to make money off sellers. They charge the fee on any kind of postage.

The real reason for eBay fees on mailing? Example is because too many sellers were selling items for $5 and charging $20 to mail a letter size item.

So the $24 item only got charged by eBay a fee on $5 as $20 was for mailing, instead of a fee on the honest cost of the item!

This mailing scam is now totally shut down by eBay and now eBay makes a profit on the whole sale.

How easy it is to turn the tables on the dishonest and disadvantage the honest in the same process.

I agree, this fee only hurts the honest seller, and makes prices rise.

They say it's becasue buyers like not paying for postage, and according to a survey of sellers don't mind it either. I will be boosting my postage up to cover thier fee after August 6th.

Why?

The only method of postage that will change on 6 August is 500g parcels using own packaging.

Everyhting else will stay the same.

Ebay would do better to spend their time moving on the sellers with postage well above real costs, and as a buyer I sure will not buy from a seller that has crazy postage, even if it is 99c...

eBay has. By charging us all on total sale price.

A lot easier than looking for postage pirates. And more revenue positive.
