Absolutely correct!

When GST is added to the price of something 1/10-th (10%) of the price is added, making the total number of parts in the price = 11.

So to find what is the GST component of an item that includes GST you need to divide by 11 to find out what that 11th part is.

I only just realised about the fvf on postage. I was wondering why my ebay fees were so high. What a disgrace ebay now I have to overcharge on my shipping. How can they get away with this, I already pay enough in paypal fees.

I only post to Australia now, no international post because of ebays grab on money from postage.

WHY DONT EBAY CHARGE THE BUYER THE % FEE ON THEIR POSTAGE AND NOT THE SELLER ............WOULDNT THE BUYERS ON EBAY BE HAPPY ABOUT THAT AND START WHINING AGAIN...............OH YEAH THATS RIGHT, EBAY IS ALL ABOUT BUYERS ( THEY ARE GOD) NOT SELLERS ( THEY ARE SCUM) ACCORDING TO EBAY..........WHAT A JOKE!!

The agreeable posters you suspect to be ebay plants are in all probability "baby narcissists" .. without meaning to sound derogatory .. the meaning is that fledgling or inexperienced narcissists wanting to hone their skills as a narcissist feel a strong desire or need to “understudy” from a master and are drawn like a moth to a flame to a powerful and major narcissistic personality (in this case ebay management) .. the baby narcissist’s goal is to endear themselves to their narcissist overlord in the hope that they be recognised and promoted within the enterprise the major narcissistic personality controls etc .. all well documented behaviour in the journals of psychiatry ..

Although I have been with Ebay since 2001, I have never got or been involved in the politics or "**bleep**" that Ebay does or imposes on Sellers. I have just wanted to buy or sell items in a safe friendly realistic cost base Environment.
That is no longer the case.
My classification of EBay is now "fleabay". Buyers want everything for nothing & Ebay want to "milk"you for every cent they can get.
It appears unless you wait for a free listing date, and load your cost much to the disgust of the prospective Buyer, you are effectively doing yourself an injustice.
If Ebay want to "milk" more money, then,Yes, put a % key in the postage calculator with a note clearly explaining that this is an additional fee Ebay charges to make more profit. This does not go to the seller.
Wish I had been intuitive enough 15 plus years ago to have done this.
As Gordon Gecko would say, "greed is good." IS IT?

Maybe people should stop listing on Feebay and start using quicksales. They do not charge to list items. I started listing there and hope to save some money on fees, Ebay combined with Paypal is just too expensive.

Funny how a lot of people here have said the made the change, only to discover it was a waste of time. QS doesn't have the traffic volume that eBay does, which is why a lot of those people return.

And whats the harm in trying quicksales? If enough people start using alternative sites then traffic volume could increase. Are you saying we should just do nothing and cop it from ebay? ebay is not what it used to be. Most of my sales went overseas but with ebay charging fvf on already high international postage costs this is no longer an option.

Are you really going to save anything over there?

As you say, there are no listing fees there, just as you can get on ebay.  You will also save on the FVFs over there as you probably won't sell anything to pay fees on.  But that is the same here...no sale, no FVFs.

I would prefer to earn some money even if I have to pay some fees.

If you were using ebay when they wanted to bring in paypal as the only payment method then you would remember the great exodus of sellers (and buyers) to quicksales (or oztion as it was called).  Everyone was convinced it was going to take off with all the new members and take over from ebay.

Guess what....they are still saying the same thing and nothing has changed.  There are sellers over there who don't sell anything from one month to the next.   The buyers just aren't there.
