What does SMP have that SM doesn't?
Is it worth paying $9.95 per month for it?
Is there a minimum period involved or can I sign up for a month just to try it out?

You can sign up and then cancel the subscription at any time.
You will be charged for the portion of time you are subscribed though

It's free with a store.
I rarely use it and certainly wouldn't if I had to pay for it. But I keep my critical information on my computer. I only rely on eBay to be a sometimes reliable listing platfom

Not a lot, unless you need access to automation options for feedback, listing, relisting etc, inventory and detailed reports.
