Why would a buyers account say registered in past couple of months Aug 2014 but their feedback history shows feedback from more than 12 months ago ?

Check their ID history, they may have recently changed their ID and the date reflects the change? Just guessing.

Registered on the discussion boards you mean as different to when their account was set up?or is that too obvious?sorry if so.don't know what else it could be.

And on the eBay user ID history.

No ID name change shows.

I don't want to scare em off so they hide their feedback at this point in time.

Edit: hadn't looked before but just did shows they registered on boards in 2010 - bizarre
