It's not Aust Posts problem but the Australian govt that should be held accountable for allowing the hikes.
The Aust Post is a government service that is to serve the community and not a business to make profits.
The outcome of breaking even is that they have NO costs and that 10,000's get a job, earn a living and pay taxes.
However Aust Post makes a profit and made over $116 million in 2014.
It is ridiculous that they make profits as that is NOT the point of the service they provide.

Well maybe some change is finally in the wind, with Japan Post's acquisition of Toll Holdings. "Competition improves the breed":
