Hi Kate

I'm very interested in Moss - could you clarify "our family" and what "Moss Barsony would be one or the other means."

Thanks

hi mon,

can i ask why you think it might be fake? i saw one, the lamp version, on the ABC TV collectors' barsony feature, near the end. but i would like to be sure so i decided to ask here. being that she is in that clip, would that change your mind at all?

cheers

HI Ultrafutura I know very little about Barsony but I would think that one a fake because of the flat base which looks like a pottery class piece.

I don't know if that is how all Barsony pieces look though

Thanks for letting me know, much appreciated. If anyone else has any info, that'd be great.

Cheers

Ultra, for the same reason georggy said.  I got a sore behind for saying what I thought in post 50. 😞

Ristiki, Kate is my daughter and my father and uncle were owners of the Lyndale/Rosedale/Roselyn pottery.  They were also in partnership with another man but that broke up and Dad & my uncle continued on their own.  Jack Moss designed for them.  The original factory is still standing in our backyard but not working although there are still two kilns in it.  Kate wrote an article for Australiana magazine a in 2005 so you might be able to get a copy of that somewhere.  They made barsony style pieces and these are incribed 'Moss'.  Not as collectable as a Barsony piece.

Hi Mon,

I found out from a long time Barsony collector that she is indeed a Barsony and I am thrilled to bits, phew! 🙂

I do appreciate everyone's advice though. It certainly does pay to be wary when it comes to buying Barsony.

Thankyou so much for that info Mon. How fantastic.

I think you bought my Lyndale atomic 50's wall vase a few years back (when I was wisekraft). I think it was Lyndale.-  I'm a bit indiscriminate with my 50's collection, but have been had barsony and Kalmar ( and perhaps some Lyndale/Rosedale/Roselyn) since the late 70's. Unfortunately I sold several at that time when moving house. I hope to track down the article.

Hi

thank you to everyone who has poted to this discussion.

I think the best way to reduce the incidence of newbies being scammed into purchasing a reproduction is to take action in the form of reporting the listings. Its easy to do.

If you see someone  selling a repro as an original....especially the H19's then hit the "report" button on the right hand side of listing.

Use the pulldown menus...and find the correct issue to report (usually the copyright, trademark infringement one) then a short statement that the seller is trying to pass something off as an original Barsony.

I think if we all do this it will help reduce the problem and give buyers more confidence.

At the moment there a some very dodgy listings. One is showing 3 "barsonys" on a table and ...the listing selling the "one on the left" which is a fake. grrrrrrr!

Any way....just a suggestion.

cheers
