Stocknagels..........

We have recently bought a walking stick covered in these little souvenirs. We have done a bit of research and have found that they were collected by walkers in Germany as they trekked from town to town. I was wondering if anyone has come across them in the past?

Have seen them, but don't know much about them. This is an interesting listing though -

Hi Kopenhagen, thanks for replying. ..... I have never seen these before but ours are all mounted on a walking stick.... It is covered in them, some old (about1950 ) we think and some are more modern. We sort of have an idea of what each one is worth but we were more interested in knowing if anyone knew about them...you have heard about them, so that's interesting!!:)

I lived in Germany in the 1960s and 1970s and they were very popular with the ''walkers'' particularly in the South of Germany, Bavaria / Black Forrest areas..

lots of Germans used to go on walking weekends, holidays in the summer
