Hi All,
I was wondering / hoping someone may be able to give me an ID on this cabinet I have.
Approx. 120cm high, 96cm wide and 42cm deep.
Any / all help would be greatly appreciated,
Ian![]()

At a guess, I would say of Chinese Origin, possibly Rosewood. How old, who knows ? At a guess, it looks to have some age, but the Chinese are notoriously great Fakers. It's a good looking piece though. I have a much smaller similar version that was made in China in the early 1970's.

I believe G&R Dewhurst may have been cotton merchants. Not a makers ID so it could just have easily been added at any time in the past. . The OP is right there are a lot of good copies out there so identification from photos is always fraught with danger. You can generally identify the style of the furniture but you need a close up view of the patina, joins, underside, construction method, what glues have been used (and for that age it should be an animal glue), type of screws, dowels or nails, the type of timber used etc.
