you will find a broker will only offer deals on banks who pay them a fee for securing a new customer.......the smaller banks dont do that.....hence why i would not use a broker. community owned ones are good

As a single female parent I can tell you that a lot of women get refused for home loans because they are the sole carer of a child

I think things may have gotten stricter as the cost of homes has risen .

I was a single Mum of 3 primary school aged children (back in the workforce again after studying full time) and was approved for a loan (which I didn't end up taking as the house was too isolated ) .They did look at my CC statement to see that I managed that debt well.

so how many people do you know that earn that or more?

do both you and your partner earn more? $2600 plus a week

I don't often ask people how much they earn? Do you?

I don't tell strangers on the net how much I earn either.

You do realize that is only about $67000 a year. Not exactly high income, not bad but not high either.

Doesn't worry me they do their job I get my house.  I have a competitive interest rate and my loan is cheaper than renting would be.

Thanks for the tips people.. I really do appreciate it.. and will take it all into account as the next few years progress.

Not all of us but a lot of us are in that situation.

It is not a negative credit report that was my problem... that was all fine..

It was lack of proof that I can repay a loan...

I can only relay what a bank manager told me... it was my personal experience.. I am not telling fibs.. it was what I was told.

John I accent the term average to refer to the average wage earner, how many people do you personally know that earn $1300 a week or more.

I only know one and he drives interstate trucks and works 7 days a week and sleeps in his truck when not driving.

I know of one, my sister, and her income is 5 times as much as mine.

and going up every year
