Yes. When they are in confined spaces (such as battery and barn chooks) they tend to peck out at the chooks beside them. They debeak them to stop that happening. This clearly shows that they want to put too many of them in the paddock and they know it.

This might sound silly, but, how do they eat without their beaks??
