He did NOT choose the flat (by the way $120 a night = $840 per week) rather than The Lodge, that was not an option.  The Lodge is being renovated and he cannot live in it.  Margie and the girls are not coming to Canberra with him, and the flat is convenient.  When he will actually start working as a PM he will not have much time to be "at home" wherever that might be.
