Hi gil.....Woo Hoo !!!! now you've started you'll wonder where the days have gone lol

I finished the w/c, I like the sky on the left, the band of water and the rest is garbage !! hahaa

I will do it again using my own colours and leaving out the yellow strip on the right and its reflection, don't like the sand bank either but it's very hard to fix mistakes once they are done when using water colours.  Lucky I bought heaps of w/c paper from Aldi last week when it was on special !!  I think I'm going to waste heaps !!!!

anyway here it is  "cringe"

Here's a pic of a colour wheel....it has the cool primaries and warm but you don't need them all to start with, also pic of kneadable eraser and paper stumps used to blend the charcoal.

You don't have to use these stumps, a torn piece of paper works, or cotton bud etc.

That sand bank looks dodgy as hell, soul! Smiley Very Happy

Thanks for the pics of the colour wheel & squishy rubber.

Actually, if the sand bank was a bit lighter, I think that it would work. Right now, it stands in stark contrast - it looks like you put a piece of wood on top of the painting. Also, I think that doing skies with w/c is more difficult than with acrylic, so you did a good job. You have a good eye for depth.

Yes, it is bad.

This is the photo I based it on (taken by Ken Duncan) if anyone wants to give it a go.

I had started off okay but as usual I got to heavy handed, also did the sand bank too wide and not dark enough.

Attempt number two....using lighter, complimentary colours.  It's still got heaps of mistakes and is boring, so I might add someone fishing and a couple of pelicans.  Over this painting now.....on to something else.

That really looks much nicer Smiley Happy I'd still like to see it when you have finished.

Joono

Thanks joono.......it couldn't have been much worse than the first one !! lol

It's going to take some time to learn how to use w'c, having the paper just wet enough, when to put the paint on, how to stop the colours merging and ending up with a green sky hahaa lots of little things but I'm not giving up this time (like I've done in the past) no matter how long it takes !

any more from you joono?   moonlight    skwerl    and have you finished yours yet gil?

I like that one too Soul, love the way you've captured the reflection of the clouds in the water. Your shading is just right
