Medical researchers are now discovering the reason for the obesity epidemic.
The low fat fad. 40 years ago one man decided low fat was the cure all for heart disease etc. Manufacturers jumped on the wagon (greed) and started producing processed foods marketed as low fat. However, once you take natural fats out of food it tastes bland so they add sugar. If you compare a low fat yogurt to a full fat yogurt you'll see what I mean. Or you can choose a yogurt with artificial sweeteners which, btw, activates your sweet tooth and can cause all kinds of problems.
When you are eating low fat, you tend to want to fill up on carbs. Slow release carbs, you think are healthy, like brown rice. But carbs are carbs. Un-used carbs turn to glucose which stores as fat. Eating carbs makes you crave more carbs.
Now medical researchers are discovering Atkins was correct. No, he did not die overweight or from heart disease.
Low carbs high fat (LCHF) can help many diseases:

I've been on the LCHF diet for 8 months now. 8 months ago my Rheumatoid Arthritis blood level test was one of the highest my doctor had seen and I have Fibromyalgia. My Fasting Blood Sugar level was high enough to be considered diabetic.
I've lost 16kg all without feeling hungry. My blood sugar level is considered normal now and amazingly I have no more pain most days. My RA and Fibro pain is about 95% gone. I wasn't expecting the LCHF diet to cure RA and F. But I noticed a decrease in pain only a few weeks into the diet. RA and Fibro are inflammatory diseases. Eating low carb and no sugar reduces the inflammation.
