dunno I would google it but my bandwdth on satellite at the moment is about as wide as this full stop .
However I agree with the 1 metre rule in principle as long as it is RECIPROCAL ie
CYCLISTS MUST STAY 1 METRE AWAY FROM VEHICLES AND NOT UNDERTAKE IN BUILT UP AREAS
OR NEAR DRIVEWAYS UNLESS THE LANE IS VACANT

To turn right at the lights I can't as our roads are **bleep**, I can go straight or the council has given me the option to turn right from the furthest left point....forcing me to cut infront of cars travelling forward.
I will and do stop in the middle of the road to the left of right turning cars and turn left as carefully as I can.
Our roads in this country are disgraceful for shared use, footpaths are dangerous for pedestrians as we travel much faster than them and bike paths if we are lucky will cover only a small portion of what we need to travel.
Education is needed badly for our roads, I will not give up my enjoyment of bicycling because some lazy car drivers are road hogs and cannot slow down or show any respect for others!

I'll restate -
The car had his left indicator on - WHY? to show everyone he was turning LEFT - and yet the cyclists chose to undertake the car anyway.
=the cyclists passed the car on the car's LEFT = ILLEGAL - if it had been a motorcyclist passing on the left they would have been booked, so if the cyclists wish to be treated equally on the roads, they should follow the same rules as everyone else.

.ummmm your the one scared of a "6" car pile up because you might have to give a cyclist some space for safety reasons!
You do know a car can easily KILL a cyclist who is legally using a shared road?

Cyclists cannot travel in the middle of the road, yeah?! So we
Legally have to travel to the left of our lane, you need to pay attention when driving and give way.
Same when you pull over and open your doors....give way to cyclists!

as long as the cyclist IS LEGALLY USING the road - see my post above - the cyclist should be goverened by the same road rules as everyone else.
No-one is asking you to give up you bicycle - just use it LEGALLY like the rest of us have to.

come to think of it, I saw a program the other day about cyclist in the city breaking red-light rules, pedestrian crossing rules and many more and they complain when they get knoecked a-over-t.
By the way, my BIL rides professionally in Europe and UK.

Round abouts are another hazard (good for parents with young children riding to know) drivers just don't want to give way? I have no idea why?? It's a few seconds wait, just like giving way to a car?!
