This has probably got more to do with why an official investigation has not been started. (your own words. Are you suggesting this is a benevolent group?

I am a conspiracy theorist, I believe - or at least strongly suspect that there was a conspiracy to cover up the events surrounding Troy Buswell's car crash.

 

You are a conspiracy theorist - you believe or strongly suspect  there is asecret group group confusing and befuddling the search for the plane for some myterious purpose of their own..
