You can post one x-ray, ultrasound, mri just for the heck of it, but it won't be elligible for the final count. (unless you're a radiographer)

insect in a cocoon
inside a car, lift, mirror etc

I really should stop and think things through before posting. I get a thought in my head and forget to look at the bigger picture.
So, a scan of a medical image wouldn't not be 'original work' but taking a photo of the medical image would be, wouldn't it?
