Hi everyone, Many months ago someone started a thread asking about sound proofing windows. I can't remember who it was and I can't find the thread. I am curious what they eventually did. I'm also interested in anyone who has done DIY soundproofing of windows, did it work? Was it expensive? How hard/easy was it to install?
I totally understand your "pain". I'll be moving shortly and a big reason....the most inconsiderate neighbours I've ever seen. It's expensive where I live and I don't pay this kind of money to keep my windows shut and the A/C on all summer.
They're aloud to keep backetball hoops at the curb and two families next door and across the street both have kids that dribble sun up to sun down, yelling, screaming....in the street. A basketball being dribbled creates that same low frequency. Unfortunately even the most soundproof windows won't stop it...it'll just go right through your walls. You'd need to open the walls, insulate, special wall board, then put this material on the walls....basically create a sound proof studio musicians use.
You should at least try talking to the guy...he might surprise you and understand.
