What is a bigot and are they illegal?. All this talk about bigots but I don't think I’ve ever seen or met one.

There used to be an old UK TV show with Alf Garnett in it and they used to say he played a bigot.

Having never seen it I’m still unaware of how a bigot acts, if its illegal to be a bigot? What does a bigot look like? and is it permissible to shoot them on sight?
