I have never heard of a scallop being called a potato cake or vice versa. Flake and gummy shark I'm not sure. You just don't hear of flake any more except maybe you still do in a fish and chip shop but everyone knew that flake was shark anyway.
Edit: LOL I don't think they sell chops at the chippie.

deli has taken on a new meaning, i remember them in the early days as euro meat shops in n.s.w and qld
in melbourne they were milk bars , in adelaide the same thing was a deli. then there was the continental delicatessen with smallgoods and cheeses , coffee and rather stiff-looking fish hanging around. it's starting to make me dizzy.

Brad and Dale had a debate over scallop/potato cake on The Block.
Dale argued that a scallop is not made from potatoes and Brad
argued that cakes are not made from potatoes either
lol

Potato scallops here. Flake was always a fancy name for shark.
What about pluto pups and dagwood dogs.

Oh, I get it. We do have potato scallops. They are battered potato cakes. Scallops are just scallops.

scallops here in nsw never heard them called potato cakes til I live in Melbourne for a while. Asked for scallops in a Springvale fish n chip shop and got these horrible little orangley snaily fishy smelling things in batter. erk.
