I sure remember getting whacked across the knuckles but the nuns who taught me went one better...they tied your left arm to your side, preventing you from using it at all.   They referred to us children as "cursed"...very christian of them...NOT.   Could explain why my handwriting is so terrible and always has been.

 Me to, I had my left hand tied into the belt on my tunic and had to write with my right hand, I can still do things with my left hand without thinking but I was at an Anglican school so it was the same across the board.
