Ebay can easily block user ids. They block the ISP address when a poster is sanctioned. If they get reported for using a different id, while sanctioned, they will get a permanent sanction. They can confirm that infraction by looking at the ISP addy.  Their ISP address, along with their id,  will be permanently blocked from the boards if they try to do that, and get caught.  

 

I'm not sure how they could be stopped from posting from another ISP though. 

 

There must be some program that would only allow one posting id per ISP address. What if 3 people in that family want to post on different boards though? What if  a poster wanted to use: ILOVEANTIQUES for one board, and, ILOVEANIMALS on another board? 

 

There are many reasons why ebay won't allow only one posting id per ISP. 

No hints. It is not against policy to use more than one posting ID if not intending to disrupt, or engage in deception ( post while banned etc).

I just want to know , in genersl, what drives people to do that ( talk to themselves, agree with themselves).

There isn't that many different regular users of this board anymore. I find it hard to believe that many of them have dozens of id's they use to post with (excluding our seriial troll who hasn't been seen for awhile and his ids are recognised by most now).

Must have been a glitch. When Lithium first took over these boards quite a few posters had other posters ids avatars showing.

Paints lives in WA, I live in NSW, that alone shows we are not the sane person.

There used to be a poster here who used a lot of different ids. I think she did it because she would get bored with the same id.
