So I've been reading a forum of "ripperologists" and they all sem a little skeptical. Apparently the mitochondrial dna match is only accurate to 1 in 400,000 people.
They keep saying on the forum that means it could have come from 399,999 other people. Now unless my maths is wrong, if there are 6 billion people in the world now, 1 in 400,000 is only 15,000 people in the entire world.
Its funny reading some of the opinions of people, I get the impression many dont want it solved, or if they do, they want their theory to be correct.

And, that the material of the shawl [ which could be a table runner] only dates back to 1902 whereas Catherine Eddowes was murdered in 1888.

There's so many "theories" its pretty hard to know what's true and what's not.
I dont think anyone will ever find 100% proof, but if they can find dna on a single item, blood from victim and **bleep** from suspect, then the chances of it not being involved in the case and therefore Kominski not being the ripper would seem pretty slim.
I dont think the scientific findings have ben published yet, nor who they got the samples from, so will interesting to hear the full story.

I don't know deb, I am only reading what is reported on several media channels.
I don't doubt the DNA test, but whether the **bleep** on the shawl was simply because he was a customer could be a valid reason.

punch, I get that impression as well.
And yes, it will be interesting to see what happens over the next few weeks.

Now all they have to do is go back in time with the evidence and arrest him. The CERN particle accelerator should do it. 😉
