Did you express the same concern when posters where calling Gillard derogatory names?

I most certainly did.

That's good. You must have been the odd one out because most of the Gillard haters refused to address her as Prime Minister Gillard. In fact Tony Abbott, in 3 years, did not once address her by her correct title.

With respect to you twinks, that's just rubbish. It's the Australian way to shorten names. My name has 6 letters but everyone only ever uses 3. My OH has 7, but uses only 4.
By your reasoning shouldn't he be referred to as Anthony, not Tony?Shortening names of loved ones close friends etc may be ok if they are comfortable with it. It is disrespectful to do so to those you have no relationship with. Maybe I was brought up with more morals than some
Shortening names has absolutely nothing to do with morals. And as far as using other names for Abbott? He has shown absolutely no respect for the citizens of Australia or the opposition so he can't now expect that people respect him just because he is prime minister. Respect the office by all means, but you don't get respect because of the office you hold, you earn that respect. I will call him whatever I like but most names I coudn't say here. ![]()

2 wrongs never make a right. Why lower yourself by calling anyone names? Someone here called my grand children awful names....others were shocked and said as much. I ignored her and still do. My standards and morals are too high.

I'm sorry your grandchildren were called names as that is uncalled for and inexcusable. However the discussion is about the PM.
I don't see the name calling of the PM as a wrong. The PM is a public figure with his own history of name calling so as far as I am concerned he doesn't deserve my respect.

The thing is, Tone is not a derogatory name. It is as valid an abbreviation of Anthony as Tony is, which apparently is acceptable.
exactly - it's waaaaaaaaaaay too nice - have to think of something more suitable......prime miniature is half "respectable".![]()

Ya know, when y'all talk about Christopher Pyne,
and being from Victoria, I don't know who the hell he is,
and I get confused.
But........
I like Christopher Pine the movie actor.
Now I could look at him for a little while.....ahhhhhhh
