Julia, my phone has our own recorded Message on it, the Telstra message bank was added without us knowing and without our consent and was over-riding our message. I noticed a couple of months ago the dial tone had changed at that time I was also having issues with broadband drop outs.
The dial tone on the phone now they have removed the message bank is back to normal, and our recorded message is now picking up if we don't answer.
