Tasfleur welcome to the world of gardening. See, it's easy to learn. If someone asks you about spots on leaves, you'll be able to identify and give a possible solution and they'll think you are a "wonder" at gardening.  Just play along with it.  Trial and error and observation is the rule.

 

Sometimes, we have to think of a plant as a long term bunch of flowers especially if NOT bought from a proper nursery.  Often cheaper than the florist's offering.

 

Wandering around in the garden yesterday evening (when I should have done the vacuuming) I identified a couple of plants that have been my easiest to care and maintain.  Of course, your conditions down there are different to mine here on the Central Coast.

 

Mandevilla.  

Murraya.  

Loropetalum a) Plum Gorgeous planted so that the western sun shines through the leaves is magic;

 

             and b) ?original green with white flowers)
