There is so much innaccuracy and misleading in that article that it is laughable, Posting it on just makes you look foolish.

80% of supemarket items are halal certified? Really?? I challenge anyone to open their cupboards right now and find even 20% of items halal certified.

Trying to cloud the issue, martini?

80% of halal-certified supermarket items does not necessarily equate to 80% of halal-certified groceries in household cupboards.

And Mr Pickering does not understand what Jizya was. Aside from the fact that very few countries have imposed this over the last few centuries (in the same way the Christian imposed taxes have disappeared),

a.The article was not written by Mr Pickering. It was written by a certain Harry Richardson, a long-time student of Islam and author of best seller, "the Story Of Mohammed - Islam Unveiled'.

if  halal certification was being "disguised" as a Jizya Tax then surely by the nature of the tax, it should be NON-halal food that is taxed?

b. Much of it IS non-halal food. As in the recent case of Fleurieu yoghurt which was required to be halal-certified even though it contains no gelatine and so would be halal exempt.

Erroneously giving it a label, Pickering seeks to link it to the Koran. But he gets it all wrong.

c. The error is yours. The article was not written by Mr Pickering. It was written by a certain Harry Richardson, a long-time student of Islam and author of best seller, "the Story Of Mohammed - Islam Unveiled'. Repeat: a long-time student of Islam and author of best seller, "the Story Of Mohammed - Islam Unveiled'. And you know better because you're, what - an interior designer?

And as for Mr Shafiq Khan (John Howards close buddy), again linking what he supports with funding terrorism is a long shot. The courts case was about money. When it comes to money, stupid accusations are made. In this case (as reported in the SMH) one of his competitors suggested that the Khan's auditing was suspect and money was being used to fund his school which turned out to be not true. And yet it is repeated in Pickering.

When it comes to money, all kinds of cover-ups are possible and long shots can still be accurate.

Why aid in the spreading of lies icy?

You calling it lies doesn't make it so. Actually, martini, you calling anything a lie in regards to matters Muslim would dispose me to suspecting the opposite
