Morning spent finishing off the constructions pieces with the girls. We are having a lazy day sipping lemon and honey and not attempting much at all. Maybe tomorrow grandma wil feel more like a park picnic20141229_111726.jpeg

Is that Lego for girls ?

Nah, you can play with it too, apsSmiley LOL

DEB

Yes aps. Miss 8 loves horses so this one is a huge hit. Miss 11 has the LiteupBrix which is lovely but not as easy as the Lego....leaves fingers sore lol20141229_103009.jpeg

SIMPLE RHUBARB CHUTNEY

100g sultanas

1 onion, finely chopped

100ml cider vinegar or white wine vinegar

1cm piece fresh ginger, finely chopped (I use ground ginger instead)

200g (1 cup) sugar

pinch mixed spice

half teaspoon salt

500g rhubarb, sliced

Heat onions, sultanas, vinegar, ginger, sugar, spice and salt in a wide-based stainless steel saucepan (don't use aluminium).

Boil rapidly for 5 minutes, then add sliced rhubarb.

Return to boil, reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes, until thickened and jam-like.

Leave to sit for 10 minutes, then spoon into clean sterilised jars.

Makes about 600ml.

I divide it into small plastic containers and freeze, then use it when needed.  I have it on grilled cheese, and on some meats.  It is sweet-tasting, and yummy.

It might change your mind about rhubarb.   Smiley Happy
