Imo, this whole outrage bus nonsense is an attempt to bully people into shutting up and not engaging in conversation about issues of offence. Some people would rather shut their minds and mock people for jumping on the ficticious outrage bus than allow the debate to continue.
Far from it, actually. My whole argumant is that there are many people who object to well, almost anything.
Now whilst that's their inalienable right to feel that way, the problem becomes everybody's when they arc up and demand that 'something be done about it'.
Rather than confronting the party responsible, they choose to outsource.
Fobbing the problem off to another, be it the church, the government, another 3rd party - it doesn't really matter. Sorry, but IMHO, there are far too many offended by trivia. Rather than complain - do something!
If YOU are offended by someone/something, then YOU need to take ownership of the problem, and address those responsible. It's far too easy to jump on the 'taking offense' bandwagon, or the Outrage Bus, and shirk any responsibility for addressing the issue.
The question has been asked before, without any answer, so I'll ask it again.
Exactly where DO we draw the line between teasing, ribbing, or good-natured joking, and offense?
Personally, I don't know - as everyone is an individual, and everyone processes the same information in a different way.
What may be horrendously offensive to me, may well be humourous to the rest of the world. So do we classify what offends me as the norm - or what the rest of society thinks?

Afraid I have to disagree with you on that.
Tellin someone to harden up is along the same lines as "stating that you find something unacceptable", dont agree with it,
Its just in slightly different or stronger words. I could just as easily say don't be 'such a princess' or 'you'll be wearing a dress
If you keep up with that line of thinking'.
I don't agree................... put that way, it is a personal remark to the poster you are addressing, as opposed to a general remark.

That wasn't meant by the sayer and making a big issue on it.
I really couldnt care if you were offended, all it does it make you a joke in my eyes because you are taking offence on behalf of black people when no offence was intended.
.
So IF offence was meant, you couldn't have been offended, you aren't black.
As I said, a perfect example of what is soooo wrong with the huggy fluffy, Do gooder, PC world of today.

Yeah right, good way to attract a pile of expletives, a bit of abuse and good dose of bossy telling you what you should be doing..

You, or Glee DID NOT get it the first time, i know that BECAUSE you said you were offended and you had no right to be offended.
I wonder if any of you have been really offended, to the level it would make you blush
or just so dumbstruck you are lost for words.

OK, if somebody throws a rock through your window and you get upset ........ that is your fault?
If somebody tells you that you are fat & ugly and everybody laughs behind your back, and you feel hurt and upset ............ that is also your fault?
If somebody you trusted betrays you, and you are upset ............... you can only blame yourself?
NO, nasty people going out of their way to insult and hurt others, are despicable, and those doing it in media, be it press, radio, TV or Internet, are also creating or exacerbating problems in community. It should not be acceptable.
I didn't say anything about fault...it's about ownership & not laying blame
http://albertellis.org/metacognitive-awareness-thoughts-thoughts/
That's what has happened. People have spoken up and said enough is enough, we are taking ownership and object to stereotype insults instead of meekly accepting them.

I don't think I did say I was offended. I might have said you were acting like a bigot but that is just my humble opinion.
Nothing here makes me blush LOL. I'm never lost for words either. When I don't bother to reply it's simply because I can't be bothered wasting my breath on a fool who's opinion I don't agree with.
And that's it from me 😄
