Kopen

You aren't the only one.

Before the advent of all this fancy hi tech, wick away mositure thermal underwear, one of the few ways to keep warm

in Bass Strait in the middle of winter (ie bluddy freezing) was to put a pair of stockings on as the first layer.

Jockeys wear pantyhose to keep warm and not add wheight to their outfit.

Some lifesavers wear them (panty hose) so jelly fish don't sting them.

And yes, they were very, very uncomfortable.

Uncomfortable but warm !

Or not suffering from frost bite !

Well it was the suspenders that were sexy, shame

I think stockings for everyday wear went out in the early 1970's approx. Replaced by pantyhose.

Aps,  you're talking panty hose.

I'm talking stockings and suspender belts.

Love to see you in Bass Strait with them on.

Yes, Mick, darned uncomfortable things and when the wind blows under the skirt one gets a shiver of cold up where the leg meets the bum.

I'll tell you a story about pantyhose. many moons ago I burned both my hands and needed help in the shower and getting dressed. My good OH managed alright slipping my nickers and bra on me, but when it came to the pantyhose, he got my feet in the pantyhose alright, then he grabbed the waistband and tried to shake me into the pantyhose like one does with a pillow into a pillowcase. We both fell over laughing so much when he said to me; "I learned to take those things off the girls, not to put them on." From then on I never ever wore pantyhose again.
