That is a pretty strange thing to say.

He thought he had a child when he was a teen ( that the baby was his).... never bothered to pay any child support for the boy, for the years betwen when that chid was born until he was 18. He heard from the boy/man, when he was about 27 yrs old.

Did he tell his family about the baby? I don't think he did.
