Or does he [Abbott} speak to Aussies saying what he thinks they want to hear and did not anticipate the Indonesians hearing his domestic speech?
What part do you think that the Indonesian Ambassador and other Embassy officials play in making sure that everything said in Australia is faithfully relayed to the powers that be in Indonesia?
You can be sure the Indonesian government knows as much as we do.
I think you misunderstood glees post.

How have I misunderstood? I am quite happy to stand corrected but I can't think of any meaning other than that Tony says things to Australians/in Australia but does not anticipate Indonesia knowing about it?
Politicians may be stupid but not that stupid.

I know that but I had to wonder if Abbott remembered that.

i do think the Indos have brought this whole saga on themselves by dragging it out once the final visits from family occurred.
They play right into the media's hands, allowing it to get bigger than it should.
It seems some think the same in Indo as well.
Joko Widodo advisers want foreign executions done
Bali: Advisers to Indonesia's President Joko Widodo say he should get the executions of drug offenders
over and done with, as pressure builds from overseas.

Not sure where you are but we are seeing plenty about the cochineal saga in Brisbane
Not as much of an error as you think.
Ethanol-containing products such as mouthwash, perfumes, cold medicines, and food flavorings are easily available to children and may cause significant intoxication when ingested accidentally or with the intention to get “high.” We describe the first reported case of clinically significant ethanol (EtOH) intoxication from vanilla extract ingestion.

This is the most disgusting thing so far: "quick! kill them quickly because we are now seen as barbarians overseas".
Brazil have been even more vociferous in their condemnation of Watta Joke and his corrupt country, they have not accepted the Indonesian's Ambassador's credentials to Brazil.
Australia is not the only country who are outraged by Indonesia's stance on clemency or to even repatriate the prisoners back to their country of origin for jail terms.
I have said this over and over again: what he is doing is against the constitution of Indonesia and against human rights but nobody on here seems to get it, they are too busy trying to blame Abbott for his efforts and if he didn't pull out all stops the left would still whinge.

I think you are correct.
But sticking to the constitution and Human rights has never been a strong point of Indonesia.
You are also corret re " they are too busy trying to blame Abbott for his efforts and if he didn't pull out all stops the left would still whinge."
