I see it as a parallel to paying ransom to pirates who capture citizens of another country.  It is paid, but usually not publicised.

People are already complaining about the money, "Why not give it to pensioners", they are saying on the radio.

"What does everyone think of this latest action?"

Seven West are idiots for revealing it.

Nobody can accuse the government of not doing everything they can to stop the killing of these 2 men. I believe the offer of a prisoner exchange was rejected outright.

As for the other offer, well who knows if its true, it's very sensitive information to be just put out there.

And by Seven revealing it, it doesn't allow the Indos to "save face".

If you have a good idea and want it to work, let them take the credit for it

and announce it was their idea etc etc.

I have not heard anything more about it, Idle, so perhaps it is not true, or else they have shut down all talk about it.

There has been another delay in a legal matter because the president's lawyer didn't turn up.  It seems very messy, and must be terrible for all the men and their families.

I agree, it's cruel and unusal punishment for the men and their families. I don't know how they can hold up under the pressure.
