Hi Lurker--not a great fan of hot cross buns-but.

On a Sunday a couple of weeks ago-i had a stall at a swap meet.

Without eating--set up a stall in the dark at 5.30 am

On my own-could not move from the stall---by noon -

could have eaten the crotch from an orangutans underpants.

A nice elderly lady on the next stall gave me a stale hot cross bun-no butter..

Geez it went down well...................................Richo.

yikes richo!!

Imagine if you told the lovely lady that..

'Mmm this tastes better than the crotch of an orangutans underpants'!! lol

Would be a good idea to pack a sammich or two next time, eh?

ok, i didn't know what they were until i seen the picture. Hot Cross Buns, I like that. I cut Crosses from potatoes and fried them once, Called them holly fries. They were really good dipped in the blood of Christ (ketchup)

Don't you have hot cross buns there Joanie? If not, then you don't know what you are missing.

I didn't like the look of the supermarket ones this morning, so bought cafe style fruit bread instead.

you are not missing much joanie. hot cross buns are english food. you need to aquire the taste for it from early childhood or you won't like it (just as with most other english food except bacon), but that's not a guarantee that you will like them. hubby is a pom and he doesn't like them.

the reason why everyone here is so excited about them is cos they are english (descendants) and have grown up with knowing nothing better than hot cross buns.

you probably find that in other countries people would try a bite and then not wanting another one.

So. richo..........do you prefer marmalade on your orangutang's crotches, or would you settle for vegemite?

We don't have hot cross buns in America, but I grew up with them in Geelong...........had no trouble acquiring a taste for them,

if given a choice, i'll always fill up on the meats, chicken, pot roast, steak, hamburger, fish, oh, can't forget the pizza, and i'll order it with thin crust, extra cheese, peporoni, and sunflower kernals, maybe "mac n cheese tuna", chili without the onions,

Thats it, i'm going out to eat tomorrow, i'm taking a vote between Pondarosa or Gattis pizza. I'm not driving the hundred miles to eat at Golden Corral, but that would be my first choice if i could go to one local.
