Actually the 97% is based on surveys of about 4000 scientific papers. Survey found that the consensus has grown slowly over time, and reached about 98% as of 2011. Our results are also consistent with several previous surveys finding a 97% consensus amongst climate experts on the human cause of global warming.

We have also set up a public ratings system at Skeptical Science where anybody can duplicate our survey. Read and rate as many abstracts as you like, and see what level of consensus you find. You can compare your results to our abstract ratings, and to the author self-ratings.

Science is not a religion.  The suggestion that most of the world's scientists treat science as a religion is ludicrous.

FGS!  Even TA now admits there is a need for action on CO2 emissions.  The only people that are totally and easily discredited are those 2%, and every argument they put up is generally baseless, and they cannot provide any reputable source for their claims.

And presumably you can produce  reliable evidence to show exactly which of the 4000 authors whose papers have been surveyed have been discredited, how many of them are proven hysteria mongers, how many are haters and how many have admitted to simply being too scared to go against their peers.

After all, you couldn't possibly be shooting your mouth off without bothering to do the necessary research,  - could you?

they think someone rich bribed 97% of the scientists.  when queried on what advantage there is in that to anyone, no-one has given an  answer yet

No warming for 18 years? so putting that  information out there  is ignored by the  warmists and I'm accused of   "shooting your mouth off" I find that  antagonistic and hostile.

This type of hostile response is normal from warmists who are desperate to shut down any dissent.
