In blistering interviews with Senator Simon Birmingham and Environment Minister Greg Hunt late last year, the 2GB host accused the ministers of "compromising the Prime Minister" and exposing him to a "Julia Gillard moment" where his decision to approve directly conflicted with his previous promises.

Jones even claimed the decision could cost Mr Abbott his seat.

Why is it all about Tony Abbott?

 

The mine is in NSW. It's actually the NSW Labor Premier who has the final say in the matter, and he has given his approval. After he bought back the licences of 3 other mines in NSW just recently. What a joke.

 

And it was a Labor government that initially approved the Shenhua outfit mines and kicked it all off.

 

There's a hope that Greg Hunt will be able to halt it after he makes further enquiries as to the environmental impact studies.

It's pretty obvious isn't it? Jones campaigned against the nursing home and won, he's now campaigning against this mine and hopefully they'll take notice

Though it was the labor govt. who originally granted the exploration license , that had expired in 2012 was re -newed by the LNP govt I think Geg Hunt made some sort of statement about further investigating the effects on the water table today

When did Mike Baird switch to Labor?

 

The original exploration permit was approved by Labor. It lapsed and was then approved by the Libs.  They've both had a hand in it so far.  The 3 licences that have been bought back are the CSG licences which were covered the Sydney area.

 

Greg Hunt can stop the mines on the Liverpool Plains using the water trigger introduced by Tony Windsor.
