The verdict

Mr Morrison is correct.

Based on the definition set out in the people smuggling protocol, people who have come to Australia without a valid visa have illegally entered the country.

That is the case even though these people have not committed any crime, nor broken any Australian or international law.

"What it doesn't deal with is someone hopping on a plane from (the Iranian capital) Tehran, going to Indonesia ... and then hopping on a vessel to come across and do the two day trip (to Australia) and classing themselves as a refugee.''

If someone can find the money to do that, does that mean their claim to be a refugee cannot be genuine?

Were the Jews who paid large amounts of money for passages aboard the Struma and the St Louis not genuine refugees?

ask mr husic.

he would have a better understanding of

immigration laws BUT it is my understanding

that when you escape persecution, you would

not have valid passports and visas to travel

across countries and then destroy those

documents to conceal your motives.

i think that is what mr husic was getting at.

there has been a lot of talk about closing the

refugee convention loophole.

your reference to the jews in wwii is an example

of why the geneva convention is seen as not

relevant to the current refugee situation.

I don't need to  speak for you. Your mindset comes across loud and clear in every post you make.
