Thanks for that Bushie, will do xx

Do I have a problem with the Camillia?   Are the flowers meant to fall off like that?  The plant has only been there since Saturday and some of the flowers turned a bit darkish .. is that normal?

Here's a link to the Royal Horticultural Society Camellia page. It might help.

I figured seeing as today is the day that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2 becomes the UK's longest serving monarch, a site with Royal in the title couldn't see me wrong.

Smiley LOL

Tas I wouldn't worry too much re your Camellia, each flower usually lasts a cpl of days , then falls off,  they do have a tendency to turn brown, particularly if they are getting a lot of rain.

Wind does not help either Bushie.

My neighbour had a magnificent camellia....3 different flowers at the same time...pale pink, dark pink and a mix of the two colours in stripes.

It used to flower from mid August just when we get strong westerly winds.  The flowers would appear and so did the wind.... the flowers went brown and usually dropped in a day.

I was talking to my brother-in-law the other day.  They have three large camellias in the front garden.  They are beautiful  big old trees of different colours.  He was saying the one that is flowering the most at the moment is losing it's flowers in a day but the other one next to it is not.  Weird, but they are different varieties.

I don't mind when the ground is covered in petals though.  It looks lovely... for a while.

Joono

Thank you so much everyone for the information and link xxxx

I wasn't sure whether or not it was something to do with the way I might have planted it (perhaps incorrectly).   The leaves are looking beautiful, and there are new buds about to flower, so given that, I know it will be very healthy.

To everyone .. I always know where to come when I need some help in the garden, you'll make a gardener of me yet xxx
