Painting question

I need to cover a vivid green colour with a cream colour.

I think that I read somewhere that you need to use a grey colour first.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

My family are painters and decorators .   You will be fine painting over the green, but you may need to do two or three coats

My advice is to do a very pale grey undercoat. It costs no more...just ask your supplier to tint the undercoat.
You will need to do 2 coats of your new colour.
That is best practice, don't forget to sugar soap and rinse before painting.

What if Jean is doing a rembrandt?

When we were getting our home ready for sale we had to paint over an exuberant teenagers royal blue and red paint job.  3 coats of "cream" ( I can't remember the colour name) paint did the job.

Or a Vermeer 🙂

Or a Jackson Pollock.

That's gunna take some sanding!
