computer storage question

How can I tell how many GB my photos and docos take up? I need to get some new backup and am not sure whether to get an external hard drive or a stick.   I haven't got that many  actually.

Depending on which OS you are using, with Windows you just double click on the computer icon which will  open and tell you how much room you have used and how much is left on your drive/s.

IMO for more permanent storage an external HDD is better while a memory stick is good for transferring programs elsewhere and playing music in your car.

If you go into your storage drive and hover your mouse

it should come up with the file size??

Since you dont have many, could you store them in dropbox or somewhere similar?

Just bring up the folder you want and hover over it and right click on it,(which will bring up Properties and

other tasks).

Click on Properties and it will bring up your file info,(it will tell you how big the file is).

Eg: Bring up your pictures folder > hover over it and right click on it > click on Properties.
