How true that is Katy ... :-x  It is all subjective isn't it for sure.  I am too fussy I think, only with my own stuff though.  I work at getting it so 'right' that I end up getting it so 'wrong' at times .. so just laugh it off now and hope to improve as it goes.

Exactly katy !

There's been a huge change in my few art students over the last year.  At first being too scared to try something in case it looked "wrong" to now doing whatever I ask of them and enjoying learning from the actual "doing".

They've also realised that no matter what, some people will love their work and some wont.  (they've also grown much thicker skins) LOL  you need to if you want to show it to others !

My task this year is to persuade them to enter a competition.

Agree with you Soul.  It will be fabulous if you can get them to go into competition.  Even if they don't win, it's the joy of just getting it there and trying.

I was going to enter Sir Chilblain into a competition once, but friends suggested I chop his legs off first and put him in as an unusual cushion ...  :|:|

Did win a little prize locally with him though as a kind of consolation for the weirdest and most surreal craft work exhibited ...  😐 ... the prize was a cream sponge cake ... 😐

:^O  I nearly fell off my chair !!!

I think he's a keeper for sure.

:^O

I wouldn't have felt so extra embarrassed if the sponge cake hadn't been iced with white icing and red strawberries, it really did match the bear ... 😐
