Okay, said the birds, we've been around for about 100 million years, and your lot have been around for about 200 thousand years, so we can understand why you can't understand that we don't mind sitting in the rain.
It's because you're still new, here.

You have such a great attitude ecar- no wonder you make such good friends so easily of the intelligent ones on the planet.
I feel for you, with that pain in your hand. I suffered with painful carpel tunnel a few years ago..it kind of aches, only occasionally now, but usually its when its raining..wierd, that...I handknitted in cotton rope a large installation(over 6 metres in length) it took 8 months. Without the use of my hands, Im pretty useless- oh, yeah, Ive got a brain, but my work is all by hand. I think thats why Helen wrote be careful with my new Global knife..any tool is dangerous, but sometimes your hands dont recover...
Jumping into a rose bush- Im wondering why? Do you think they didnt see it in the dark?Sounds painful enough to me, but possums are pretty remarkable- agility that can be awesome to witness..lets hope alls well..
Theres a possum that jumps on our roof most nights, between 5:50 and 6:10..seriously, I could time my watch by him! When he doesnt appear, I wonder, each time- did I just not notice him?and then the next night, there he is thump, then a skid, then racing footsteps.. cracks me up.![]()

The rose bush, poor old thing, it must be getting on for 25 or 30 years old, which is rose bush years is a whole lot more than that, sits between two trees. There's a space, so I suppose it makes sense to make use of the space as a convenient exit. Just to one side of the rose bush/gap is a T junction for the bridges. I imagine that someone moving at speed might misjudge the turn, so to speak. Either that, or it's a convenient way to make an exit. They way they chase each other sometimes really does worry me. ![]()
I could put it down to Fate or Karma or the Will of some great unseen force, or whatever else, the truth is that however it came about, these are the cards I was dealt. I have to live with it and I might as well make the best of it. This is how I am until there's no more me, and if that's going to be another 40 or 50 years, then I don't want to spend that time being unhappy. Well, not all the time, anyway. ![]()
I've got "half" carved, at this point I should say that half, in this instance, is a Very broad description, teddy bear. The shape is recognisable as a teddy bear, but beyond that it has very little resemblance to the finished item, that I'm wavering about working on, some more. I keep promising myself that I'll have it finished by the Winter, so I can put it in my jacket pocket and carry it with me in case an opportunity arises for it to go to a new home. I like making them. It can take me months, but it's not about how long it takes, it's the pleasure in making them, and, if the occasion arises, giving it someone. Their smiles are priceless, and I like making people smile. ![]()

Pine, from the hardware store, with a couple of coats of (I think) "Walnut" stain.
It's easy to carve, and it comes up quite well.

I'm a little possum,
Swinging in the tree,
I look straight at ecar,
And he looks back at me!
