amy, your painting is wonderful! it's fresh and lively and I know how much effort it has taken for you to be brave enough to show us !
The colours look good. The only way to learn to paint in a realist way, is to keep looking,looking,looking.......then look some more. If we try to paint something like a flower our head tells us it looks like "this" but if you pick one from the garden and really look at it you'll see so many thing you didn't realise. So my advice is to paint something that is in front of you and just keep practising. You can buy cheap pads of canvas like sheets from the cheapie shop and if you paint even a couple of times a week you'll see an improvement in no time.
