I was out the front with Mother magpie earlier on, and of course there was macaroni, ha ha.
She picks up four pieces, not the usual three, and takes off down the street.
Before long, she's back.
She tries for five pieces, but macaroni wasn't designed to be carried in magpie beaks, so she takes four, again.
This time I hear the insistent squawking....
She comes back again, has a few pieces for herself then then picks up another four pieces and heads off.
She didn't come back, after that.
I suppose there's only so much macaroni that you can stuff into a baby magpie in one sitting.
About ten months from now, all things going well, a little mottled grey and white bird will be sitting outside my back door and singing the "Food" song to me, or chasing me enthusiastically across the front garden, ha ha.
