haven't got around to finishing this yet.  Thought I'd post some different ways to paint so our budding artists get some ideas.  This is poured acrylics, let dry, then see what it looks like.  I thought seaweed so made a start on fish. will get back to it one day

This method is called scrafitto. You lay down different coloured oil pastels then cover the whole thing in black oil pastel, then scratch through a picture.

this is really old !!  I think charcoal is a great medium to start with and I still love using it.

one of my first attempts with soft pastels on black paper.  It's pretty bad LOL but it shows another medium.....don't throw tomatoes !!

another style, using acrylics.........and that's enough of that.  I keep all these old paintings so I can learn from them, eventhough I cringe at some !

Wish I had your talent Soul - those paintings are amazing.

Love the mosaic table too - we stayed in an old train carriage in Fremantle and it had lots of mosaics.  Will try to find a picture.

i bought a new canvas yesterday.

But am not feeling the best. Keep getting headaches.

Not sure when i will start my next prject

Beautiful work, soul. 🙂

DDB, there is no pressure on anyone here to start or finish anything, so no worries at all. Go at your own pace, whenever you're ready.

Incidentally, when I was at OW yesterday, I saw a canvas pad with about 10 pages for about $6. The texture of the paper was like canvas. I don't know if you are aware of their existence, which might be much cheaper than buying real canvas.

Nice work, Soul.

For anyone wanting a basic project ... buy some hair bands (the non-metal ones are best) and some different coloured ribbons.  Cut the ribbons (on a diagonal) about 8 - 10 cm long and knot them in the middle around the hair band.  Continue until you can't see much of the hair band.  Little girls love them for pony tails or bracelets.  You can theme them for Christmas (red and green), or to go with special outfits.  You can use lace as well as ribbon 🙂

Thanks rosie amy moonlight and katy.

They're not good by any means but do show different styles.  I love trying anything new.

amy, like moonlight said, just do it in your own time or you won't enjoy doing it.  I think I mentioned the pads of canvas before and they are good to practice on.  Can be framed if they turn out well.  The op shop is a great place to find frames and canvas boards.  Just paint over them with gesso/white house paint and off you go.

Are you starting your painting today moonlight ?
