From time to time the possums make a noise...

It's a sort of hollow thud, as though the possum inside the house has kicked it's foot against the wall.

Possum houses are essentially empty wooden boxes, so the acoustics are pretty good.

But that doesn't explain how whoever it was, sleeping in the palm tree this afternoon, managed to make that noise...

Possum belching?

"Ohhh... Too much pizza... Too much pepperoni...." ha ha.

It remains yet another of the mysteries of the Universe, ha ha.

The old cockatoo turns up for birdfast, it's like breakfast, only for birds, ha ha.

The clock was started...

How long long will it be before he casts his eyes over the food and says "Is that it...?, hinting that there could be more... ha ha.

Or will I give in first and go and get him the sunflower kernels?...

He won, ha ha.

At daughter's, apart from the magpie family that visits, there has been a pair

of turtle doves.

These turtle doves had a baby this year, and for some reason, as it grew, they started

picking on it.   To the point of blood being shed.

This poor little bird now has a droopy wing and seeks the protection of daughter's

balcony.  He/she can fly, but not as well as it should.

We favour it with the food (Muesli) and shoo away the parents.  Strangely, the Maggies,

also chase the turtle dove parents, but leave poor old 'Bungo' alone to eat.

It is not afraid of us, and happily stays where the food is most days.

Poor old Bungo

Poor old Bungo.

It sounds like it's doing the best it can with what it has.

Good on you for making it feel welcome - giving it somewhere it can perch and grab a bite to eat.

The leaves fall, and the litter gathers, and over time it becomes easy to forget that there's a cement path, there, under the leaves.

Then one morning, a young blackbird decides to see what luscious treats the garden holds.

So now there's a chaotic pile of leaves on the path, the edge of the cement has been neatly revealed, and there's a two centimetre deep trench in the garden, that runs the length of the path, ha ha.

Winter is coming.

Goodbye sweet Latte.   Thank you for fourteen and a half years of your being beautiful, funny, intelligent and for all the times we had that always made us remember just how valuable a life you were ....  Heart

I'm sorry, Tas.

I shed a quiet tear for you, for you all.

I will look to the sky, tonight, to find her in the stars.

Thank you Ecar..... Heart

She was put to sleep yesterday and she was so peaceful and knew she was loved.   She couldn't eat or drink any more and no matter how hard the Vets tried for four days, Latte had given up the fight, but she was still purring.

We'll never forget her.
