I sat down with her, and she opened a large velvet covered box.

It was filled with little plastic vials filled with beads.

"I've had these for years", she said, "Some are cheap, some not so cheap, and some of them are heirlooms".

She took out a vial and handed it to me.

"You have to treat these very gently - they came from my Great Grandmother's wedding dress...".

I said, "Family heirlooms.... I'll treat them with the greatest respect".

"So you should", she said, "They're venerable beads...".

I'll have to make some time to pop into Bunnings and see if I can't pick up a high visibility kilt, ha ha.

At least if you had an unwelcome visitor, you'd know ahead of time...
