Funny you should mention about the Magpies being absent, Ecar.
The Magggies that visit daughter's balcony have not been back for 3 weeks.
They sit on the phone lines outside, they sit on the roof next door, they peck for worms
in the front yard. But they haven't come back to the balcony to sing.
They have a new baby - have heard it peeping in the gum tree where they nest.
We were starting to think someone had frightened them away from the balcony.
I mean, really, we feed them gourmet stuff. Walnuts and muesli
Guess it's just a waiting game - although they've never been gone this long before

Here you are, just so you don't fret and think that Caturday slipped past unnoticed... ha ha.

I don't understand magpies, ha ha.
One moment they're nowhere to be seen, and the next, they materialise out of nowhere (should you even look like you're going to get into the car, and naturally that means that you're going to the shops, to return with goodies)... ha ha.
As long as they're happy, that's what matters.
They'll be in for a bit of a surprise when they come back - the crow has decided to fill the niche left by their absence.
I've gone from one, maybe two small to medium sized demanding birds to one relatively large demanding bird, ha ha.
He sat on the fence this evening and "told" me, in no uncertain terms, that he was not entirely pleased that I was between him and the food...
At least he hasn't started coming to the back door, yet... ha ha.

The magpies materialised...
About four houses up the street, ha ha.
I put some bread down and Mum came over, stalked around, picked up a few pieces and flew off as though we'd done much the same only yesterday....
It's business as usual, ha ha.
