On the other side of the road, what looked like a big black plastic garbage bag lying on the ground.
It was sort of rumpled, so some parts looked black and some parts looked white - reflecting the sun...
Interesting sight, I thought...
There's a magpie walking just near it... It looks like Mother magpie...
Then the bag moved...
There wasn't a breath of wind, but the bag moved...
Suddenly, there was Father magpie, and Baby magpie standing there....
They'd been "sunning" - lying on the ground, face down, wings and bodies spread out, doing a very good impression of a large black plastic garbage bag... ha ha.
Mid morning-ish I went out and there were two cockatoos sitting a way back in the garden, looking either sullen or sulky...
It can be hard to tell the difference... ha ha.
To save myself a trip around the garden on a "What am I going to find...?" expedition, I looked into the doorway of the Brown house, first.
It points directly out at the pergola, where the birds like to land, so if there's a little possum lying on it's back, keeping cool in the doorway, they can see it...
Sure enough... ha ha.
It looks like the little possum secured it's position before they got here this morning, so they've got no grounds for complaint (particularly, ha ha).
They can't say "It appeared all of a sudden and now we're afraid!"...
Thus the sullen, sulky looks, ha ha.
Like all children, sharing is not one of their strong points, ha ha.

Then Tas accidentally bumped her handy pocket sized spray applicator of "Moose Away", and the rest is history... ha ha.
